Disc Spondylitis In Dogs

Richard Thompson Band, The Dance Cafe, February 6, 2011. Susheela Raman

Richard Thompson, a veteran British folk scene of the sixties made his return on a Parisian stage Sunday night in the small intimate dining room full and the Café de la danse. All those who have kept Richard Thompson's image of a folk balladeer have been imposed quite a denial on this evening. Armed with his Fender Stratocaster with a pretty pastel blue fifties, Thompson played a concert at the extreme power (only two songs in the acoustic configuration) showing the passage of the qualities (unexpected?) Lead guitarist. Surrounded by a group of both conventional battery, and original bass-fiddle player and a multi-instrumentalist (sax, flute, mandolin) - Thompson has issued a show in two sets, the first unveiling of the new album's songs followed a second part revisits his classics. Between each song Thompson fails to deliver remarks, comments and anecdotes about his humor so British. Fun with the audience, he also speaks some French. A quick note to finish on the great band that accompanies it. Drummer terrain itself ensures the maintenance of his instrument while continuing to beat time, the stick wedged between the teeth. The bass player, enthusiastic, fun seems like the most beautiful times of the sixties, doing the splits while shaking his head. A very nice evening.
